Experimental Analysis of the Influence of Exhaust Thermal Management on Engine NOx Emission

Exhaust thermal management is essential to allow engines meet the Euro VI emissions standards and reducing nitrogen oxide one of most important targets being pursued nowadays. Along these lines, in present study, engine’s performances have been evaluated on basis a WHTC test, namely transient engine dynamometer schedule defined by global technical regulation (GTR) developed UN ECE GRPE group (the GTR covering world-wide harmonized heavy-duty certification (WHDC) procedure for exhaust emissions). The influence fuel consumption, intake, tailpipe NOx quantitatively analyzed overrun state. results shown that there can be strong after-treatment temperatures NOx. In particular, average temperature upstream diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) has found increase from 245°C 254°C, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) 248°C 253°C, SCR’s minimum 196°C 204°C, peak value low-temperature region decrease 73 51 mg/s. However, state’s strategy air ammonia storage, NO2/NOx ratio, urea consumption observed relatively limited.
